The remarkable efficacy of immunotherapy in certain colorectal cancers

For people with colorectal cancer without distant metastases and a specific tumor characteristic (microsatellite instability), a short course of immunotherapy can be administered before surgery. Just two infusions caused the tumor to shrink significantly or disappear entirely in many patients. After three years, none of the treated patients had experienced a relapse. This therapy does not require chemotherapy and offers a shorter, gentler treatment with a good quality of life.
